Project Overview

AIDAluna has been a firm favourite among AIDA guests since 2009 — one of three Sphinx-class sisters whose intimate scale makes her ideal for scenic itineraries through the Norwegian fjords, the Canary Islands, and the Western Mediterranean. When she entered the Chantier Naval shipyard in Marseille in October 2025 for a seven-week AIDA Evolution refit, she became the second vessel in the programme, building on the experience gained from AIDAdiva's successful transformation earlier that year. The outdoor decks received particular attention. The new Sky Deck crowns the upper superstructure — a private retreat for suite guests, with a retractable glass canopy, two whirlpools, and BLOOM handwoven sun loungers and cabanas arranged for maximum privacy and sea views. It is one of the most coveted spaces on board, where mornings begin with ocean air and evenings end with an uninterrupted horizon. At the stern, the Lanai Bar was conceived as a destination in its own right: an open-air bar that appears to float above the ship's wake, where guests gather around BLOOM bar stools as the sun sets behind them. The combination of craft cocktails, sea breeze, and the gentle sound of the wake below makes it one of the most atmospheric spots in the AIDA fleet. Across the pool deck, BLOOM loungers and seating tie the new outdoor spaces together into a coherent design language. AIDAluna also became a proving ground for innovation: transparent solar films were tested on the pool deck canopy — a pilot project that could shape the energy strategy of future AIDA Evolution refits. Every BLOOM piece on board meets the same marine-grade specification: UV-stable synthetic fibres, corrosion-resistant aluminium frames, and quick-drying upholstery built for seasons at sea.
